Ever since her death, Geddington has celebrated a Mass on the date of Queen Eleanor’s Death. Until the reformation, every location that King Edward had built a Cross in commemoration of her death was required by royal charter to do so. Following the reformation, all other locations ceased to offer the Eucharist in her memory and only offered a prayer on her behalf – all that is except Geddington!
Today we continue this ancient tradition, but in recent years it has been made extra special by incorporating full levels of ancient symbolism and ritual into the service in order to make it as authentic as possible. A special sacramental celebration not to be missed!
